A Happy Camper

Very sweet pic taken from Del's blog today (Del was the winner of my first giveaway).
Suffice to say, I think she is  pretty happy with her bling!

"I Waltzed My Matilda All Over"

Well, I think it is fair to say that the inaugural Mathildas Market in Hobart was a resounding success. The venue was perfect - with glittering views of the harbour, all of the stalls were delightful, and there was a very healthy stream of customers all day (with heavily pregnant chickies and freshly new mummies highly represented!).

I had a very successful day and had heard from other stall holders that they also experienced great sales on the day and even some post-market orders.

Unfortunately I did not get a chance to snoop about and get pics of the venue and the other goodies on offer. So, you will have to make do with some more pics of my stuff!

Feltie-flower brooches and pin brooches.

Feltie-flower headbands

Fabric button bracelets

Hair bling

My Creative Space

This week I am beavering away getting lots of goodies ready for Mathildas Market. This amazing baby and kids market has been a phenomenal success Australia wide - and this Saturday will be the first time that it has been held in Tassie.

I am super excited and have been making some "limited edition" pieces especially for Mathildas:

These little cuties will be made into bright and cheerful headbands. Nicey?

Elections and Erections

Yesterday was election day here in Tassie. The beautiful old school hall that is the regular venue for the Handmade Hobart Market was being used as a polling booth - so rather than forfeit such a great opportunity to promote this fledgling market, we decided that a relocation to the outdoor area adjacent to the hall was in order.

This was my first outdoor market stall and I was a little nervous as this involved not only braving the elements (which are notoriously unpredictable here in Tassie), but also grappling witth a marquee (intended to tame said elements).

Thankfully my neighbour, Elizabeth Brookes (aka Libby the fur lady - my pet name for her - get it) was on hand with her "mallee bull shoulders" and marquee expertise and the erection was complete in no time!

I had a lovely day with lots of laughs, lots of sugar(mmm...muffins, cupcakes), lots of customers, and lots of little helpers (mainly all under the age of 5...).

Some of Libby's fur pillows. I am definitely not a fur person, but took comfort from the fact that they are made from upcycled vintage fur coats (I even touched one towards the end of the day!).

And my favourite little zombies made by HiiRagi were there as well. I just love these little guys.

My Creative Space

This week I am frantically preparing for a tonne of upcoming markets. The most time-intensive and fiddly items that I make are these bracelets (so of course I have been procrastinating and avoiding them altogether).
They are also one of my best selling item - so I need to bite the bullet and get the little darlings made - TODAY.

I have spent the long weekend making hundreds of buttons to attach to the bracelets.

The tot is in bed I am going to sit down right now and put these babies together.

Just after I have some lunch...

How's the Serenity

(Dale:)  He was the only bloke he knew with a holiday home. Not a caravan, a holiday home and he reckoned we were the luckiest family in the world.

(Dad:)  Dale, I reckon we're the luckiest family in the world.

(Dale:)  He loved the serenity of the place.

(Dad:)  Hows the serenity.

(Dale:)  I think he also just loved the word.

(Dad:)  So much serenity.

Our little family are currently spending our first weekend at our own Bonnie Doon. We have been lucky enough to purchase a little slice of paradise on Bruny Island - an idyllic island just a ferry-ride off the coast of Tasmania.

The view from our block. Not bad:

Hopfully the caravan will morph into a wicked shack one day soon. Either way, I can see many happy family holidays here.
